On April 29, 2023, two standout students walked the stage at Embry-Riddle’s Aeronautical University (ERAU) commencement ceremony – Fabian Martin Sr. and Fabian Martin Jr. Father-son pair who each received Master of Business Administration in Aviation degrees. Both hailed from the island of Antigua and are Alumnus of St. Joseph Academy.
The Father is also an alumnus of ERAU who previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management and Maintenance Safety. His son, an alumnus of Vaughn College of Aeronautic previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management. Fabian Sr. is an Aviation veteran at LIAT (1974) Ltd and Fabian Jr. is a maintenance technician for a large cargo operator in the United States.
“We both plan to take our experience and knowledge attained during the program at Embry-Riddle to an airline executive position,” Fabian Martin Sr. said. His son’s goal is to eventually become a vice president of maintenance and engineering for a major airline.
Naturally competitive, father and son pair spoke almost every day during their graduate programs, but never about the contents of the courses being done. This competitive spirit served as a motivator to them both.
“At the end of each semester, we assured each other that success was at hand,” Fabian Martin Sr. said. “At the end of the program, I had a 4.0 GPA (Distinction) and my son had a 3.9 GPA, which I think was quite remarkable.”
