Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne on Wednesday, preceding the opening ceremony of the 44th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in The Bahamas, held discussions with a delegation from the People’s Republic of China on a range of issues of mutual interest.
During the discussions, the PM underscored the tremendous assistance Antigua and Barbuda has received from the People’s Republic of China since the establishment of diplomatic relations forty years ago.
Director General Cai Wei, led the delegation from the People’s Republic of China Department of Latin America and Caribbean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry in the talks with Antigua and Barbuda’s leader Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Minister for Housing, Works and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Maria Browne.
Director General Wei welcomed Antigua and Barbuda’s unwavering support and the prime minister’s offer for Antigua and Barbuda to become a constructive interlocutor in helping to resolve challenging issues whether regionally or globally.
Browne indicated that the country is ready to move its partnership with the People’s Republic of China to the next level in order to advance Antigua and Barbuda’s development agenda.
