Jacinta Allan has been elected the leader of the Victorian Labor Party, meaning she will become the state’s 49th premier.
Ben Carroll, a senior figure from the Right who initially challenged her for the position, will serve as her deputy as part of a deal between the Left and Right factions, multiple sources told The Age.

Box Hill MP Paul Hamer, who acted as the parliamentary party’s returning officer, has confirmed the results.
