Human remains have been discovered in the aftermath of a car fire north of Perth as police investigate whether the blaze was linked to another incident which saw a car sunk in the ocean near Cervantes hours later.
The vehicle fire was reported on Indian Ocean Drive about 12.30am on Tuesday morning, leading to the closure of the road for several hours between Pinnacles Road and Cervantes Road.

Police later discovered what was believed to be human remains inside the car.
Later in the morning, police were called out to reports a vehicle was submerged in the water south of Cervantes Jetty.
“Another vessel was seen drifting out to sea with a man on board acting erratically, who then jumped into the water,” a WA Police spokeswoman said.
“A nearby fishing vessel rescued the man from the water and conveyed him back to the jetty where police attended.”
The man was taken into custody and is receiving medical attention, while the submerged vehicle was pulled from the water. Police said nothing suspicious was found inside.
Major crime officers remain in the area as police work to determine whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
Police are calling for dash-cam footage from vehicles travelling in both directions along Indian Ocean Drive from 9pm Monday until 12.30am Tuesday.
