Andy Robertson in confident Scotland boast as Liverpool man throws moaning Spain star's statement into doubt

Andy Robertson says nobody who watched Scotland vs Spain could argue about a home win being deserved - just don't tell one of the Spanish players that.

Las Rojas striker Joselu claimed 'that nine times out of ten' it would be a visiting victory as he joined the list of Spanish players to whinge about their bad night at the office. But it was a fantastic one for Steve Clarke's men, who are top of Euro 2024 qualification Group A with maximum points from two games with 3-0 and 2-0 wins over Cyprus and the Spaniards.

Captain Robertson is now back on domestic duties with Liverpool but tells Sky Sports that despite the groans from the opposing corner, Scotland earned their kudos at Hampden. He explained: "It was an excellent camp and we had a really good week leading into the two games. We knew that we were ready for the challenges ahead. Saturday and Tuesday were two completely different games.

"Tuesday speaks for itself, we had a belief within the squad and behind the scenes that we could get a result. It was about following the plan in place and I think we followed it pretty perfectly, to a man we were excellent, we won our individual battles and got the result we deserved.

"Anybody who watched the game couldn't really argue that. We limited Spain's chances and created a few ourselves, but it is only the start of the group and we have aims to get to the Euros, we've took the first step but there's plenty more to go."
