Asda's hidden feature on self-service tills only just being spotted by shoppers

People have been left shocked after only just realising Asda's hidden feature on the self-service tills.

And people have praised the tip as "excellent" after a shopper shared the nifty hack on social media.

Bethany Jade, who goes by @bethanyjade_st on TikTok, shared the mind-blowing tip with her followers.

The viral clip, which has over 4,000 likes, shows how shoppers of the popular supermarket no longer have to enter their coins one at a time when using the self-service checkouts.

And with them becoming more frequent in shops, customers may spend a little longer feeding the money into the machines than they would just handing it over to a cashier.

The conventional way of putting coins into the slot is long and time consuming (

Many people have said that they were 'today years old' when they found out about this hack (

In the TikTok video, the hack enthusiast writes: "I was today years old when I found out this life hack.

"Just lift the flap and let it count your money!"

She then proceeds to show herself adding a coin at a time inside the flap, which is very time confusing.

Wagging her finger to show that this is wrong, Bethany filmed herself lifting the same coin flap to expose a larger compartment with a funnel for your coins.

She then slotted all her coins in one after the other, saving a lot of time and effort.

The savvy shopper admitted: "I love this hack and need to share it."

And social media users were left shocked that they did not find out about this trick sooner.

Someone else said: "I love using cash I’m old school hate them machines."

And a third wrote that they only found out about the hack after watching the video, writing: "You were today years old...."

Another wrote: "Carnt wait to go shopping and try this."

While one person wrote that the hack should be used with caution as "This can literally break the machine".

However, Bethany was quick to reply that this hack is perfectly safe. She wrote back: "Recently found this out, and apparently it’s how the people that work there fill it up with coins too."

And it seems that Bethany was not the only one to share a tip on how to quickly dispose of your coins.

Another user claimed to know a sneaky way to get the machine to switch your coppers for silvers, alleging that: "If you tip in a load of 1s and 2s (has to be less than the value of your shopping) then press "cancel payment" it gives you it back in paper or silver."
