Body found in search for missing Scot who vanished three days ago

A body has been found in the search for a missing Scot who vanished three days ago. James Cowderoy, 63, was last seen on Aberfoyle's Lochard Road at around 10pm on Tuesday, 21 March.

Police carried out extensive searches of the area and appealed for anyone who was travelling on Lochard Road, between Aberfoyle and Kinlochard between 2am to 4am on Wednesday to come forward. Officers have since confirmed that a body was found within Loch Ard.

Formal identification has confirmed it is that of James Cowderoy. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We can confirm that around 1.15pm on Friday, 24 March, the body of a man was found within Loch Ard. Formal identification has taken place and the family of James Cowderoy, 63, reported missing in the Aberfoyle area on Tuesday, 21 March, are aware.

"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
