Casemiro sends message to Man Utd teammates that sums up ex-Real Madrid star

Casemiro has seen it all and won virtually everything in his glittering career.

Five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, three Club World Cups and three Super Cups make his one of the most distinguished CVs in world football. With such a formidable list of honours, the 30-year-old could be forgiven for losing his hunger and winding down, having already achieved so much.

But Casemiro claimed his move to Manchester United has made him feel like a kid again and said he is relishing the challenge of helping the fallen giants get back to the top. The midfielder's two goals set Erik ten Hag's side on their way to a comfortable FA Cup win over Reading and kept United fighting for glory on four fronts.

And Casmerio, arguably United's most influential player this season, said he feels reborn following his £70million summer move from Real Madrid. “I'm very comfortable, extremely happy to be here and enjoying every moment like a 15-year-old kid!” said Casemiro.

“But the most important thing is to see the team growing. When you arrive at a new club, you always dream of making history, especially if we see the greatness of this club. We know the history.

“But I was aware of needing some time to adapt and of the rivals having a long-term plan before ours, like Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool. They all have managers that have been there for a while and, therefore, they have an advantage.

"We have to see what the reality is and we're still a club under construction. Of course, we're already respected, the opponents know we're strong, that we have good dynamics, the manager is doing a good job, the players as well.

“United is a big club. If we look at the titles, it's the biggest in England.

“In our lives we have to have goals and challenges. It was a challenge for me to keep growing and developing in my career. We're on a good path. This is the way to win titles, but we need to keep growing. We're progressing within a plan and building a well-structured team. To win titles in the future, you have to build a solid foundation."

Those who felt Casemiro signed for United purely for financial reasons, with the midfielder earning £350,000-a-week in what will be his last big contract, have been proved wrong. He has started 20 of United's last 23 games in all competitions and only missed the 3-2 defeat at Arsenal through suspension, his influence and availability proving the wisdom of his signing.

“I'm happy with my adaptation here, and my team-mates and the staff are really helping me,” said Casemiro. “With the English language, it's been quite hard, but I'm really trying to get better.

“Everyone here has been lovely with me and since the first day I feel at home here. I appreciate all the effort that the club has done to bring me here. I'm grateful for the compliments I've been receiving, but the key to all of that is that I'm really enjoying myself here. I'm very happy and I do feel at home.”

United's Brazilian stars sealed victory, Antony providing the assist for Casemiro's first goal, Fred setting up his second, then rounding off the win himself with the third, a back-heel flick.
