Child killer Cashman's family swear and shout 'he's innocent' in dramatic court exit

The family of child killer Thomas Cashman protested his innocence by swearing and shouting in a dramatic court exit.

Cashman was found guilty of fatally shooting and murdering Olivia Pratt-Korbel, nine, in her own home on Kingsheath Avenue, Liverpool, as well as attempting to murder Joseph Nee on August 22 last year.

The Murderer was found unanimously guilty at Manchester Crown Court in what was described by LiverpoolEcho as one of the most horrific crimes in Merseyside's history.

Cashman was also found guilty of intent to inflict grievous bodily harm against Cheryl Korbel and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

After the guilty verdict, Cashman's family stormed out of court shouting and swearing that their relative had been wrongly found guilty, all the while the convicted killer wiped tears from his eyes.

Claims from the family aired outside of the court during a foul-mouthed tirade alleged that other people were responsible for the murder of young Olivia.

Cashman's sister aired the allegations as she was ushered out of court by police officers and Manchester Crown Court security personnel.

Convicted burglar and drug dealer Nee took damage during the attack which left Olivia fatally wounded.

David McLachlan, prosecuting, said Cashman had "murder on the mind" as Nee begged him "please don't" after being shot in the midriff.

Nee, who had stormed the property of Cheryl Korbel after fleeing from Cashman, whose gun had jammed, tussled with the 46-year-old mum as Cashman fired a second shot which claimed the life of young Olivia.

The youngster had ran to the bottom of the stairs and said she was "scared" after Nee had made his way into the property, with Cashman forcing the door open.

The child murderer had let off a shot through the door, which struck Olivia in the chest, critically injuring her before she was tragically pronounced dead at Alder Hey Children's Hospital at 11.30pm that same day.
