NICOLA Thorp has broken her silence on her engagement to actor Nikesh Patel.
The actress, 34, shared details of Nikesh's sweet proposal on Jeremy Vine and confessed it was a total surprise.
As a snap of the pair flashed up, former Coronation Street star Nicola said: "This is Nikesh Patel, my fiance, I'm getting used to saying that still.
"He's an actor and we've been together for two years and he popped the question earlier this month.
"He blindfolded me, I thought we were having a date night - I actually thought he was setting up an escape room in the front room because he was being very secretive and sneaky.
"And he took the blindfold off and there was just candles everywhere and he was in his tuxedo. There were photos of us everywhere and a little nod to my grandma, who passed away, so I was in tears."
Asked about her engagement ring, Nicola said it is a "teardrop emerald with a diamond halo on a rose gold band".
Nikesh, 37, has appeared in a number of TV shows including Indian Summers, Starstruck and the mini-series Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Nicola played Nicola Rubinstein in Coronation Street until 2018, before briefly reprising the role in 2019.
Announcing the news on Instagram, didn't add a caption to her pictures, Nicola didn't add a caption but her famous friends were quick to congratulate her on such happy news.
Dermot O'Leary wrote: "Hey! The best news. Congrats x"
Actress Nathalie Emmanuel wrote: "Awwww yaaaaaaaay Congratulations!!!!" alongside lots of clapping and loved up emojis.
Fellow former Corrie star Richard Fleeshman also posted a series of clapping emojis to congratulate the couple.
