A DATING site launched for people who admit they are desperate has found singletons in Sheffield stay on their own the longest.
Desperate.Dating, which says it is for lost causes, has had thousands sign up.
Businessman David Minns said the site officially launches on Valentine’s Day but almost 3,000 people across the country have already registered and are still joining at a rate of 200 a week.
He said: “I hope we will appeal to people who are fed up with the usual advice from experts such as ‘don’t text too often’ and ‘don’t commit too soon’.
“As far as we are concerned the more desperate you are the better.
"We have been getting a lot of interest but were struck by Sheffield members who have on average been single for seven years.”
He added: “Hopefully we can come to their rescue.”
People from Wakefield have been single the second longest — six years — with Edinburgh natives next at five years and ten months.
Liverpudlians have typically been single for a year and four months.
