Euro 2024 draw pots in full as Scotland avoid some big guns after landing place among second seeds

After waiting 25 years between our last two appearances at the Euros, Scotland now have an idea of who they’ll have to beat in order to make it two in a row.

Euro 96 saw us head to Wembley before taking on Switzerland and The Netherlands at Villa Park. Sadly, it was a familiar story in the end as Craig Brown’s men failed to make it out of the group on goal difference.

A quarter of a century later and we were finally back after France 98 proved to be our last tournament for some time. UEFA ’s hairbrained scheme to host the competition across the continent did actually allow football to come home and Steve Clarke led his side out of Hampden against the Czech Republic and Croatia, either side of yet another jaunt south to face our neighbours. Unfortunately, there was to be no knock-out clash once again as the wait to break that particular hoodoo went on.

Germany lifted the trophy back in ‘96 and now play host to Euro 2024. The draw for the qualification process takes place in Frankfurt next month and Scotland have been confirmed as Pot 2 seeds after topping/finishing runners up in their Nations League Group.
