Former CBeebies TV presenter back on Ayrshire stage for special show

Former CBeebies TV presenter Liam Dolan is set to return to his hometown for the 13th annual variety show.

Liam is gearing up for his highly anticipated one-night-only show at the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock, this weekend.

The Kilmarnock-born comedian always makes a point to deliver a hilarious show every year in his hometown, first falling in love with performing after his grandad secured his place in the town's youth theatre school.

Now, sorting through his collection of elaborate wigs and dresses to pack for the show, an excited Liam took a break to speak to Ayrshire Live about his upcoming performance.

He said: "The show is great fun, I've been in Glasgow for seven years doing the panto and I always look forward to coming back home to Kilmarnock to perform my own show. I usually like to do the show at the start of the year to help lift those January blues.

"It's been a wonderful response from the Kilmarnock people, the audience is really loyal and it always makes me emotional to know people are coming to see me and they expect a good show - the support is just incredible. I used to see shows at Palace Theatre and thought it must be amazing and now I'm doing it myself in my home town.

"I've had some great feedback over the years, one story that stands out was when someone tried to get a table booked in a restaurant but was told they'd have no chance because that's the night of the Liam Dolan Show.

"I got my job on the telly by a entering competition to become the next face of CBeebies and 14,500 voted me all the into the final three and I won it.

"It was a nice thing to know how many people supported me then too."

This year, guests joining Liam onstage will be his panto pal Craig McDougal, along with Rod Stewart Tribute act James Frew, and an Abba Duo.

Liam added: "It's a full variety bill and I'm so excited to perform. All the characters are ones the Kilmarnock audience can relate to.

"This year's show has a lot of topical references in it and talks a lot about what's going on in the newspapers, I have a great act in the show the people of Kilmarnock know well but may not have seen for a long time."

The Liam Dolan will take place Saturday, February 4 at 7.30 pm and tickets cost £24.
