Reports suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have been asked to "vacate" from their former UK royal base, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The couple confirmed the news of the eviction, via a statement from their spokesperson. Their visit to the UK for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 was their last stay in the five-bed property.

Sources told the Evening Standard's Robert Jobson that Vice-Admiral, Sir Tony Johnstone-Burt and the Keeper of the Privy Purse, Sir Michael Stevens are in charge of finding the savings.

Camilla reportedly oversees it to ensure that, after the Coronation, the royal household will be run in the "Clarence House Way".

The source claimed that the Sussexes losing Frogmore was the "tip of the iceberg", adding that unless they pay the going rate, royals will be stopped from using the properties as "London pads".

They added that properties will be "let at commercial rates" and will be offered to people "outside the family".

Another source added that the King is not "some sort of housing association for distant relatives".

As reported by the Daily Mail, the King has "made no secret" of his plans for a slimmed-down monarchy.

Following the news of Meghan and Harry's eviction, it was reported that the King had wanted to move his younger brother, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, out of their £30million Windsor home - Royal Lodge.

The King is keen to not leave his brother "homeless and penniless". Royal Lodge reportedly requires extensive work.

Meghan and Harry now reside in the US with their three-year-old son, Archie and 21-month-old daughter, Lilibet.

Following their departure as senior royals in 2020, the couple continued to use Frogmore Cottage as their base when visiting the UK.

The Duke and Duchess have been invited to the forthcoming Coronation, however, the couple have yet to indicate whether they will be at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

The date on the Coronation also falls on their young son's fourth birthday, leading to more speculation over the couple's appearance.

Archie and Lilibet have reportedly not been invited to their grandfather's big day, despite all three of Prince William's children set for starring roles.
