I’m pregnant and here’s 13 things I didn’t expect during the first trimester – including the statement everyone makes

A MUM has taken to TikTok to reveal the 13 things she didn’t know about the first trimester before getting pregnant - and other mums are saying they can really relate.

Jen, known online as @jenamillerco, regularly shares parenting tips with her 16,000 followers.

In a new video, Jen, who is currently expecting her second child, shared 13 revelations she had during the first trimester.

This includes the side effects she didn’t expect - and the statement everyone makes to pregnant women.

“Let’s talk about 13 things in your first trimester that nobody prepares you for.

“I’ve just finished mine and these are the things that caught me totally off guard.”

Number one is linked to food - Jen claims your cravings are constantly changing.

“You will crave something, eat it, and then minutes later feel totally repulsed by the idea of eating that same thing again.”

For her second point, Jen said: “You will think that you’re showing, only to realise that you’re just ridiculously bloated.

“Pregnancy is like yawning. Once you announce that you are, everyone around you will announce they’re pregnant too,” was the third thing she claims she didn’t expect.

She continued: “When you call to schedule your first appointment, a blasé receptionist will tell you to hold your horses for at least a few weeks.

“Your partner doesn’t stand a chance against your newly acquired superhuman sense of smell.

“Anything they make will drive you crazy.”

Jen’s sixth revelation was about morning sickness - and the fact that it doesn’t just affect you in the morning.

“Morning sickness is just a euphemism for all-day sickness.

“By 4 pm, all you’ll have energy for is rooting for your favourite contestant on the Great British Baking Show.”

For point eight, she added: “You may start to feel depressed from feeling sick and tired. It gets better.

“Everyone will have an opinion about whether or not you should do a gender reveal - and they all feel strongly about it.”

Number ten: “You’ll catch yourself crying over a podcast for online therapy because any and everything will be triggering.

“No amount of gum will be able to get rid of that weird metallic taste that now resides permanently in your mouth.

“People will comment that you ‘don’t even look pregnant’, which just means they’ve been judging your body.

And finally, for her thirteenth revelation, she adds: “It will go by so slow, and then one day you’ll wake up and it’ll be over so quickly.”

Fans loved the mum’s honesty, with the video gaining more than 48,000 likes and 809,000 views.

Another said: “This is the best video I have seen regarding this. I am so conflicted feeling happy that I’m pregnant and sad I don’t feel like myself. Thank you!!”

Someone else put: “This has been the longest 11 weeks of my life.”
