I tested one of the UK’s most expensive roasts for £76 – but here’s why the Toby Carvery wins hands down

A FOODIE shared her personal, honest review of one of the UK’s most expensive roast dinners.

And while she enjoyed her experience of tucking into the popular British dish, she came away thinking that cheaper carvery Toby Carvery would still win hands down for her.

Social media user Grace Booth, who can be found on TikTok at @gracebooth97, describes herself as an “uncertified food critic” and regularly posts videos of her favourite food finds.

For one of her reviews, Grace, aka Grackle, headed to a prestigious hotel in London to check out their Sunday roast offering.

She told her 274k and counting followers that for £76 – according to her “the most expensive roast in London – you receive a whopping five courses.

Grace then tucked into them one by one and gave her verdict after she’d finished.

As soon as she entered the hotel, Grace was seriously impressed by both the service and the interior, and said it was a cut above the rest.

She then sat down for her meal, starting things off in style with some warm sourdough bread and butter, which she described as “gorgeous”.

Grace added: “I have to say, this was one of the best breads I’ve ever had in my life – it had Marmite on the outside or something.”

The foodie was then ready for her next course, which looked to be a meat terrine, which she said was “unnecessary” but “still good.”

Then it was time for what Grace had been waiting for since she stepped inside – “the main event itself”, the roast.

However, Grace pointed out that the roast beef that is prepared for each diner at the table was, in her opinion, “a little underwhelming.”

She continued to claim: “It was an impressive show where it gets carved in front of you, but the veg and the meat were cold.”

She added that she would mark the whole dinner as “mediocre” and that she wasn’t impressed by the lack of gravy.

However, Grace was quick to praise the meal’s big saving grace – the roast potatoes.

The TikToker went on: “The roast potatoes were the best potatoes I’ve ever had in my life.”

As she wrapped up her video and showed the delicious looking dessert, Grace summed up her thoughts further.

She concluded: “The atmosphere was lovely and there was a live pianist, and the waitresses were so attentive.

“My friends’ pudding was apparently in their top ten so that’s quite a claim.

“But, all in all, we concurred that the Toby Carvery won for food value and was hot.

“But there’s no denying that they had a much better ambience and interior.”
