Photographs inside a creepy morgue left abandoned after being almost destroyed by an earthquake have emerged.
The remains had been abandoned for 13 years and shocked an urban explorer who stumbled on them in an Italian morgue.
The building had been heavily damaged by a massive earthquake and disturbing photographs showed images of what remains including a pile of discarded bloody sheets.
In another image, a dirty medical robe can be seen hanging from the wall.
The morgue, outside of Rome, Italy, was forced to close after a devastating earthquake left it damaged beyond repair.
The L'Aquila earthquake of 2009 was a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that killed more than 300 people and left around 65,000 people homeless.
It occurred in the region of Abruzzo in central Italy and caused damage to over 3,000 buildings.

abruzzonotizie.com)The photographs were captured by anonymous urban exploration photographer and video journalist Lost Ireland using a Canon 2000D DSLR with a 10-18mm ultra-wide angle lens.
Lost Ireland said: "It was definitely eerie. The morgue had a funny smell in it and it was pitch black so we had to use torches to see anything at all."
"You start to think you can hear all sorts of weird noises in that kind of environment so you definitely get jumpy.

"I've done quite a few old morgues before in Ireland, the UK and even Italy.
"This however was the only one I've ever seen so much biological waste left behind which included bones, blood and fluid samples.
"I would argue that my photos are a form of capturing history as they'll still be around after the buildings aren't.

"There's almost a stigma or fear around morgues which I'm hoping to change.
"This will definitely stand out as one of my all-time favourite explores."
In 2021, The Mirror reported about an urban explorer who found an abandoned hospital for war veterans, with padded walls, a blood-stained autopsy room and old teeth left to rot.

mediadrumimages/LostIreland)Gaby, 24, from the US, was looking online for facilities in the country to explore, and decided to visit the creepy hospital with her boyfriend, Sonny, also 24.
The exact location of the hospital was not disclosed, but Gaby said it was used to treat war veterans and was abandoned “not fairly recently".
The pair were surprised to discover that the hospital had electricity through the building and spent time exploring the different floors.

mediadrumimages/LostIreland)They had a look around the psychiatric unit, X-ray unit, a long-term living facility and an acute stay floor.
Student Gaby said: “On the psychiatric unit, we found multiple padded rooms that were still completely intact and unvandalised.
“We also noticed features in each of the rooms for suicide prevention like slanted door handles, unbreakable mirrors and safety chairs that couldn't be used to harm either the patients or staff."
