Kieran Tierney transfer question set to run as Arsenal get tough despite 'genuine chance' of Emirates cash in

Arsenal have reportedly put talks over Kieran Tierney's future on hold until the summer - despite the Scotland star having a "genuine chance" to exit the Emirates this summer.

The former Celtic defender has been on the fringes of the Gunners' squad this term after falling behind Oleksandr Zinchenko in the pecking order during the club's surge towards the top the English Premier League. The 25-year-old, who last started a game in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City in January, came off the bench in his last game against Crystal Palace to chip in with an assist but is unlikely to earn a recall to the starting XI for Saturday's clash with Leeds United.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly refused to negotiate an exit plan for the full-back until the end of the season, with Newcastle United among the clubs linked with a swoop. The Celtic higher-ups will be keeping close tabs on the situation with the Parkhead club entitled to a percentage of the sales fee following his £25million move south of the border in 2019.

Writing for CaughtOffside, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed all parties face a nervous wait until the summer before talks are opened by Arsenal. He said: "Kieran Tierney has a genuine chance to leave Arsenal in the summer.

“This is a possibility but Arsenal don’t want to negotiate now. They decided internally that there must be full focus on winning the Premier League; the big dream!

"So there is no intention to distract the players including those who are not regular starters. In the summer, Arsenal will discuss Tierney’s situation at the end of the season but the defender definitely has the opportunity to experience something new.”
