Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp hits out at Reds stars amid Erling Haaland transfer hint

Liverpool’s underwhelming start to the new season continued on Saturday as they were denied three points by Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield.

The Reds had come from 2-0 down to lead but a Leandro Trossard treble saw a share of the spoils on Merseyside, leaving Liverpool in ninth and 11 points off the top of the current Premier League standings.

Many are currently racking their brains over how to get Liverpool back on track and that could potentially involve a number of transfers - a couple of the world’s most promising footballers having recently been linked with moves to the club.

With that being said, here are the standout Liverpool stories from Mirror Sport over the past 24 hours.

Klopp hits out at underperforming Reds

Following the miserable draw against the Seagulls, Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp appeared to hint that his squad was ignoring his instructions.

Speaking after the final whistle on Merseyside, he said: "I spoke to the boys in a similar way to how I speak to you. I don't know how many times I have to say we need a reaction.

“The first goal has an impact on both teams. They were flying and we were somewhere in between. They used that for the second goal.”

Haaland’s Dad hints at Liverpool move

One solution to Liverpool’s current mire could well be making a move for one of the best forwards in world football - Erling Haaland.

With the Norwegian’s Dad hinting that the striker might not actually be at the Etihad Stadium for the long term, he has now stated that Liverpool could be among the clubs who could sign him.

He said: "On our list, I think City is the best team. [Bayern] Munich is number two. We have Real Madrid as number three, Paris Saint-Germain as number four.

“We also have some English teams other than City who are quite good. Liverpool and Chelsea. Also, there is Barcelona. They are sort of in the same row."

Suarez eyes next Gerrard

One other player who could potentially be a good option for the Reds is Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde. Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has already given a move the thumbs up having compared his compatriot to Steven Gerrard.

“Honestly, and there are the newspaper archives, already in 2017, when Fede debuted in the National Team, I already said that he reminded me of Steven Gerrard, who was my teammate at Liverpool,” he said.
