Love Island 2023 LIVE: Zara’s mum and brother defend her as fans raise concerns over bullying from fellow islanders

ZARA'S mum and brother speak out after Love Island fans raise concerns over how she's being treated by her fellow islanders.

Zara's mum Denise told The Mirror: “We understand people’s concerns when they see she is visibly upset. We know the show is highly edited and that Zara is free to leave at any time.”

Meanwhile, her brother said: "She is a very strong woman who knows her own mind – she can handle the drama.”

It comes after the islanders played a game of truth or dare, in which Tom told her that he prefers Olivia's face but admitted that Zara has the best body.

Meanwhile, Aaron said that Zara is the mostly likely to speak behind his back and Lana said she thought Tom and Zara were the least compatible couple.

  • The massive change to tonight's show

Dancing on Ice confirmed that for the first time, the two lowest-ranked skaters will not face the skate-off.

Instead all remaining couples, including Ekin-Su CulculogluJoey Essex and Michelle Heaton, will be scored by the judges.

Those scores will then be combined with the public’s votes and the lowest ranked couple will leave.

It means the Dancing on Ice celebrities cannot rely on being saved by the judges if they find themselves bottom of the leaderboard.

A show source said: “You might think there being no dreaded skate off would be a good thing, but actually it means the celebs have no safety net - there’ll be no saving of favourites, or forgiving a misstep.

“The celeb will be judged entirely on how they skate and how the audience reacts to that skate. The stakes are higher than ever.”

  • Vans are confused over a-supposed feud claimed by Haris

During a TikTok live, Haris claimed that one time Tanyel and Zara were in a fight.

He said: "Tanyel just had an argument with Zara that I didn't wanna see or hear. So I told her to go upstairs."

Fans were left confused as this argument was never aired in one of the daily episodes or on Unseen Bits.

Those watching were asking what happened between the two.

  • Iain Stirling on whether islanders enter the villa for love

Iain Stirling added to his interview with The Independent about whether islanders enter the villa for love or for a free trip or just to win the money.

He said: "I don’t even think that first season they’d gone on for love. They’d literally gone on for a free trip to Spain, saved 90 quid on a flight to Magaluf! They were wild. Calum Best took them all on a night out! What is going on?

“I think if you don’t acknowledge the fact that some people have gone in for reasons other than love, you then [ignore] that people can go in to find love and to get 50,000 followers on Instagram. They’re not mutually exclusive.

“If you meet someone that you really like, and you’re in a beautiful villa and you’re lying next to each other in bed every day, you’re gonna get feelings for that person.

"I’m not embarrassed to be like, ‘Yeah, people go in for other reasons other than love,’ because love’s still there and that’s what’ll show.”

  • Iain Stirling on doing Love Island's voice over

Speaking with The Independent, Love Island's dearly loved voice-over, Iain Stirling, described it as "wild" for ITV to allow them to produce "a voiceover that takes the piss out of a new show they’ve spent all their money on."

He was asked whether Love Island could work without his hilarious comedy, and he responded: "I think it could survive... Survive, not thrive."

  • Love Island fans defend Olivia

Love Island viewers have now understood why Olivia was keen on getting to know Tom after last night's Unseen Bits showed the footballer spending lots of time and complimenting the 27-year-old.

One fan wrote on Twitter: "After watching unseen bits I don’t want to hear anyone say Olivia is delusional. She and Tom do actually spend a lot of time together #loveisland"

Another added: "Tom doing press ups with olivia on his back leads me to believe that it wasn’t as one sided as it was made out to be? #loveisland"

  • Fans in stitches as Lana gives Will a sex education lesson

Will was telling the other islanders how he calls a blanket "noo noo," as he found himself surprised that they didn't know.

It was because they had another definition for the phrase.

Lana told Will that a "noo noo" is actually a vagina and viewers couldn't help but laugh over Will's innocence on Twitter.

One wrote: "Will finding out his childhood blanket is nicknamed as a vagina."

Another added: "will needs his noo noo."

  • Could David return to Love Island in Casa Amor?

Love Island star David Salako hinted that he could be returning to South Africa.

While sharing on social media that he hit the gym, he also wrote: "Road to Casa Amor," followed by a palm tree.

The money advisor was Zara's fellow bombshell and the first person to get dumped from the island.

  • Are oat milk and milk the same? Ron thinks so

Last night's Unseen Bits showed Ron and Lana having a chat by the pool, in which Ron said that he doesn't drink coffee.

Lana also told him that she doesn't drink milk, but Ron struggled to understand because she had oat milk in her coffee.

The make-up artist tried to explain to him that milk and oat milk are not the same things - normal milk comes from cows.

Fans were shocked that the finance worker couldn't understand the difference between the two with one tweeting: "Ron can’t be serious thinking oat milk and regular milk is the same thing.”

They also added to the fact that he was lying, because he had an iced coffee in the villa with one fan saying: "Lana he’s even lying about drinking coffee you’ve got no hope love #loveIsland.”

Another chimed in: "'I don’t drink coffee. I drink coffee but I don’t really count it because it’s iced coffee.’"

  • Fans are worried about how the islanders are treating Zara

Zara's family spoke to The Mirror, raising concerns over how the islanders are treating Zara.

The bombshell has ruffled feathers since entering and setting eyes on Tom and had a continuous feud with Olivia over the Macclesfield footballer.

Her mum, Denise, said: "We understand people’s concerns when they see she is visibly upset. We know the show is highly edited and that Zara is free to leave at any time.”

Meanwhile, her brother Alex added: "She is a very strong woman who knows her own mind – she can handle the drama.”

  • Love Island is back!

Today we'll have a look at what happened during last night's Unseen Bits and also take a look at what might happen in tonight's episode.

We'll also be discussing what you at home are saying about the drama in the South African villa.

    Let's get to it!

  • Fans claim to have spot secret feud

Fans were quick to support Zara, believing Aaron came in too hot with the accusation with no evidence to truly back it up.

"Nah cos I'm actually annoyed that Aaron who is literally team furniture has this much vim for Zara like [what the hell]," wrote one fan.

"Why did Aaron say that Zara falls behind peoples backs? I literally haven’t seen that at all? She says it straight up," said another.

"'I feel like we’ve already seen it.' WHEN, Aaron?," added a third. "When have we seen Zara being two faced? Cuz they definitely didn’t air it."

  • Gemma Owen shows off eye-popping cleavage

Gemma Owen has wowed her fans with an eye-popping snap on her lavish Dubai holiday.

The former ITV2 dating show star – who rose to fame last year – looked glam as she headed out for the evening in the UAE.

  • Haris Namani looks downcast as he arrives back in the UK

Haris Namani looked downcast as he returned to the UK after being booted out of the villa.

The TV salesman was sensationally forced out hours after The Sun revealed footage of him embroiled in a violent street brawl.

  • The hideaway is looking better than ever!

There’s a vibrant pink and blue colour scheme with the instruction to “Get sexy” on the wall in neon light.

One new addition is a cupboard “stocked up with naughty things” which producers have dubbed “fun time”.

  • Who is still in the Love Island villa?

In true Love Island style, the line up of sexy singletons looking for love never stays the same for too long.

With new bombshells arriving and islanders exiting – it can be hard to keep up.

While some Islanders have said they’re only allowed two drinks a night while in the villa, producers have insisted there’s actually no set limit on alcohol.

However, contestants still can’t get as drunk as they want.

Producers tend to judge the amount of alcohol consumed “on a case-by-case basis”.

They told the Huffington Post: “We’re really careful they don’t have too much to drink. We’re responsible about it.”

  • Villa left ‘messy and disgusting’ by Islanders

The sprawling South African property looks like an "absolute tip" and is "stinking", according to reports.

The sprawling property boasts a huge pool, new Hideaway, treehouse and an extra-large firepit to host the drama.

But while life in the villa appears glamorous on our TV screens – the reality is said to be far from it.

According to the Daily Star, show insiders hit out that the villa is "absolutely disgusting" as 14 Islanders live inside it.

The source told the publication: "The villa is an absolute tip. It sticks apparently and it's just a mess.

"The runners have to clean up after all of them and they say it's absolutely disgusting.

"There's only about two toilets and there's more than ten Islanders in there," they added of the villa's interior.

The insider said that the lack of toilet space meant one worker once had to pick a used tampon off the floor.

  • What happens in the villa on Saturdays?

According to 2017 Love Island winner Kem Cetinay, the islanders are given a day off on Saturday while the production team clean the villa, he told This Morning.

He said: "They give you one day off. You get one day off per week. What happens is, it gives them a day to clean the villa, and you take your mics off, and normally we go to the beach.

"So what happens is, when you take your mic off, you are not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show, you have to talk about home life.

"You are being watched by the producers because they don’t want you to talk about what is going on. They are quite careful about what you talk about, because they want to keep it so everyone at home can see it.”

Meanwhile, 2019 islander Amy Hart told Closer Online: "Saturday isn't a day off. We don't have days off, we have our microphones the whole time.

"Every day I was in there I was mic'd and filmed.”

  • Fans were left uncomfortable by Tanya's and Shaq's scene

Many fans took to Twitter to say that they didn't need to see Tanya's and Shaq's details of the hideaway experience.

The couple spent a night away from the islanders and got "down and dirty" as they became the first couple to have sex.

One islander said: "I dont need to see the hideaway scenes, pls make it stop lol #LoveIsland."

Another chimed in: "Hideaway clips make me so uncomfortable i do not need to see that #LoveIslandUK #loveisland."

  • Another bombshell is about to enter the villa

A show insider tole The Sun that a female bombshell will soon be thrown into the villa.

It comes after just days since Spencer and Ellie made their entrance, and Love Island fans are claiming that the islanders are not being given enough time to build a connection.

The source said: "Love Island are keeping things spicy this series and have thrown into another female bombshell.

"She has already gone into the villa to stir up the action and fans will see it all play out soon.

"The ratings are starting to rise on this series and Love Island bosses are sure throwing in more bombshells will only make the show more exciting."

The Sun approached ITV for comment.

  • Fans spot red flag about Ron

During a scene from Unseen Bits, the 26-year-old was seen chatting about the beverage with Lana – claiming he didn’t drink it.

She quickly pointed out that he currently had one on the go, but he insisted that was different because it was an iced coffee.

Lana, 25, then told him she doesn’t drink milk, but Ron struggled to understand what she meant because she had oat milk in her coffee.

He told her that oat milk was still milk – leaving those watching at home very bemused.

One person tweeted: “Ron can’t be serious thinking oat milk and regular milk is the same thing.”

A second said:  “Lana he’s even lying about drinking coffee you’ve got no hope love #loveIsland.”

“’I drink coffee but I don’t really count it because it’s iced coffee’.”
