A major Paisley road remains closed following the death of a 63-year-old man.

A large police cordon remains in place on Brediland Road following a "serious crash."

It is understood the crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight with officers still on the scene.

The 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and police are continuing their enquiries.

Renfrewshire police are appealing to the public to "avoid the area."

Posting online, the force stated: "Due to a serious crash on Brediland Road, Paisley, the road is currently closed and diversions are in place. Please avoid the area."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.20am on Sunday, November 27, officers were called to a report of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a 63-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing.”
