And Chelsea manager Graham Potter has put his foot down over the situation in his latest press conference, with Ronaldo once again linked with a move to the Blues in January. Elsewhere, Erik ten Hag is set to perform a transfer U-turn on one of his players, while Newcastle United’s owners reportedly ‘rejected’ the chance of a Man United takeover.

Graham Potter puts foot down over Cristiano Ronaldo

Chelsea boss Potter shut down questions about Ronaldo as links of a Chelsea transfer once again begin to surface as the January transfer window draws nearer.

The Man United superstar has endured a miserable start to the new season, following a similarly frustrating summer in which he failed to seal a move away from the Red Devils. The 37-year-old, after top scoring in his first season back with in the north west, tried and failed to engineer a move to a side in the Champions League.

But Potter shut down any questions surrounding Ronaldo in his latest press conference, claiming he will not discuss any players not currently at the club. He said: “We can spend all day with these questions but I'm not going to speak about this. If they are not out players, I am not going to speak to them.

Erik ten Hag set for midfielder transfer U-turn

Donny van de Beek has so far failed to reap the rewards of a fresh start under Ten Hag this season and now the Dutch manager could be about to perform a transfer U-turn on his comrade.

According to Fichajes, Inter Milan are weighing up a move for Van de Beek, with the report claiming that Netherlands international has emerged as a 'priority' for the Italian giants and 'will seek a January exit' if his situation at Old Trafford doesn't improve over the next few months.

Ten Hag refused an approach from former club Ajax back in the summer as they sought to acquire Van de Beek on loan for the season, with the Dutchman convinced that the midfielder could rediscover his form. However, fresh transfer interest could give Ten Hag the opportunity to perform a U-turn following Van de Beek's lack of action so far this term.

Newcastle owners ‘rejected’ Man Utd takeover

Newcastle's owners reportedly rejected the chance to pay £700million for a 30 per cent stake in a Premier League football club prior to their takeover of the Magpies, with it believed to be Man United.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) had been weighing up potential opportunities to get involved in English football for some time prior to their £305m takeover of Newcastle in October last year - although things could have been very different.

Saudi's controversial Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is said to have been keen on investing in buying Man Utd, although he has since dismissed reports, according to The Athletic. However, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Newcastle’s chairman and the governor of PIF, has revealed they could have invested in a different club, albeit for less than a majority stake.
