Maya Jama’s ex Ben Simmons steps out with new woman after demanding Love Island host returns $1million engagement ring

UH oh, look away now Maya Jama.

Just weeks after the Love Island host’s ex-fiancé Ben Simmons hit her with a legal demand to return the $1million diamond engagement ring he gave her, he has stepped out with a new woman.

The US basketball star was snapped with Hollywood actress Eiza Gonzalez in New York on Friday night after a cosy dinner date.

A source said: “The pair have been quietly getting to know each other for a while now and it feels like romance is on the cards.

“Ben wanted to draw a line under his relationship with Maya, hence demanding the ring back.”

Aussie-born Ben and Maya’s whirlwind long-distance relationship hit the rocks last August, eight months after they got engaged.

Things took an unexpected turn last month when Ben issued a legal letter to the Love Island host after she failed to hand back her huge diamond sparkler.

The move has led to speculation over whether he intends to repurpose the ring for Mexican-born Eiza, who has previously been linked to Aquaman hero Jason Momoa.

Meanwhile, Maya recently opened up about being single.

She said: “I’m really, really single right now. Newly single. But it’s nice.”

As well as being spotted out with US R&B singer Giveon in December, she was also seen cosying up to her ex Stormzy at the GQ Man of the Year Awards back in November.

The pair dated for four years but split in 2019.

She has insisted they are just friends.

I’m sure she isn’t short of admirers after the showstopping wardrobe she has displayed on Love Island . . .

No daddy's girl

CHLOE Madeley admits she’s no longer a daddy’s girl.

She says she now has a stronger bond with mum Judy since becoming a mother herself, after years of being closer to dad Richard.

Fitness guru Chloe – who had daughter Bodhi last August with ex rugby ace hubby James Haskell – said: “After I was born, my mum got really bad postnatal depression and it went undiagnosed for a long time.

By the time I was a teen, my relationship with my dad was so solidified and my relationship with my mum was not.”

But speaking on the Made By Mammas podcast, Chloe said: “When I got pregnant with Bodhi, it went from zero to 100 in a day. I’m closer to mum now.”

Oops, poor Richard.

Shakira record to Ex-pose

HELL hath no fury like a woman scorned and singer Shakira is far from finished with getting her own back on her Spanish footie ace ex Gerard Pique.

The pair split last year after 12 years together amid rumours of his infidelity.

He then began dating lookalike student Clara Chia Marti.

Now Shakira is putting pen to paper about their nasty split for her new album.

A music insider tells me: “Her next album is definitely going to be a tell-all record and she won’t be shy about letting everyone know what happened.

“She was working on another record before she had suspicions about infidelity, so those songs are being re-written with new endings to give fans a fuller picture of the truth. Those who’ve heard snippets say it blends Latin, rock and hip hop and is more empowering than angry.”

The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker recently took a swipe at Gerard on a new track with Argentine producer Bizarrap, in which she sings: “You traded a Rolex for a Casio.” Touche . . .

Chez jean shuts down

CHERYL may be back in business on the West End, but her ex-hubby Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini isn’t enjoying the same luck.

I can reveal that the Frenchman has sadly been forced to put up the shutters on his Italian-Japanese themed Itaku restaurant in London – just a year after opening.

However, this isn’t stopping him from pursuing other ventures.

Speaking at the launch of Metropolitan Mayfair Casino in London on Thursday, he said: “I want to go into the nightlife business as my restaurant has closed.

“We were excited about it, but it didn’t work – s**t happens, I guess. But nightlife is my next move.”

There is little chance of a reunion with his popstar ex, who is currently performing in the West End show 2:22: A Ghost Story.

The former couple were given Britain’s fastest-ever quickie divorce in October 2016, just two years after they tied the knot following a whirlwind three-month romance.

Fog girl's new thriller villa

SUPERBIKE race ace Carl Fogarty's daughter Claudia is to join Winter Love Island.

The beauty, whose dad won I’m A Celeb in 2014, runs clothing boutique Storm Fashion with sister Danielle and is no stranger to posing in a holiday bikini on social media.

An insider on ITV2’s Love Island, being filmed in South Africa, tells me: “Claudia is ready to strut into the villa imminently.

“She’s classy, beautiful and well educated and is set to have all the boys fighting over her.

“Her life might be glamorous but family means everything to her and she’d love to meet the man of her dreams and settle down. But she’s promised not to be too raunchy, to save Dad’s blushes.”

Famous last words.

Caught live: Editors getting it write

Editors at Troxy, London

★★★★☆

THE secret to Editors’ longevity lies in the fact they have never stayed still.

Their knack for moving with the times was on full display at a packed-out and thrilling gig in the capital.

Across a stamina-busting two-hour set, the Brummie rockers entertained us with a bevy of hits and deep cuts plucked from every corner of their back catalogue.

Backed by a light show that would put Blackpool illumin-ations to shame, a wild-eyed Tom Smith threw himself around the mic stand, adding a magnetic visual for the synth-heavy flavours of latest album EBM.

Kiss and Strange Intimacy recalled Depeche Mode in their globe-conquering pomp, while thunderous renditions of the band’s early singles Munich and The Racing Rats satisfied older fans.

By the time a pulsating Papillon brought the curtain thudding down, Editors had proved once again that their brooding, guitar-speckled electronica is the perfect soundtrack for these dark days and winter nights.

Macca in frame for coronation

SIR Paul McCartney is in the running to perform for King Charles’ showpiece Coronation celebrations.

I can reveal that The Beatles singer is at the top of the organisers’ wishlist to appear as part of the three days of events taking place from Saturday, May 6 until Monday May 8.

It comes after Macca smashed his Glastonbury Festival headline set on the Pyramid Stage last summer in front of a crowd of more than 100,000 people.

An insider revealed: “Royal organisers are super-keen on landing Paul for this historical once-in-a-lifetime performance.

“The general thought is that having a Beatle singing on King Charles’ big day would seal the deal and other acts can slot in around him.

“Paul is the perfect signing, thanks to his extensive back catalogue and huge global appeal.

“The invites are currently being carefully curated but time is of the essence.”

Paul is a lifelong friend of the Royal Family and met the Queen several times.

In a statement he issued after her death last year, the veteran rocker told how he felt “privileged to have been alive during the whole of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign”.

Last weekend I revealed that the Spice Girls could reunite as part of the blockbuster celebrations.

I’m clearing my diary, for sure.
