My husband and I can’t agree on what cheating means

INFIDELITY ISSUES

DEAR DEIDRE: I BELIEVE my husband is having an emotional affair, but he insists his relationship with his female friend isn’t wrong.

While I see it as infidelity, he says because it’s not physical it doesn’t count. He’s 36, I’m 34, and we’ve been married for seven years.

We’ve always had a great relationship, but recently I’ve become unhappy with the amount of time he’s spending with this “friend”.

While I trust he’s not physically cheated on me, I can’t help but think he’s developing feelings for her.

When I bring it up, he says I’m being silly and he couldn’t possibly be cheating because they’ve not even kissed.

How can I get through to him?

Every problem gets a personal reply from one of our trained councillors.

DEIDRE SAYS: People often have their own perceptions of cheating.

While he may just be friends with this woman, explain to him why it’s making you uncomfortable.

Really, infidelity constitutes anything that detracts from a relationship.

It’s important you tackle the issue and find some common ground.
