Paul O'Grady's heartbroken daughter breaks silence over death of her beloved dad

Paul O’Grady’s devastated daughter has spoken about the death of her TV icon dad, who sadly passed away last month at the age of 67.

Mother-of-two Sharon Mousley is the 48-year-old daughter of Lily Savage star Paul, who he had with friend Diane Jansen.

Sharon has expressed her sorrow and the shock of her family who are still coming to terms with the death of Paul, described by many as "a national treasure".

Paul was married to husband Andre Portasio since 2017. He and friend Diane had Sharon in 1974, and is the late entertainer's only child, reports the Mirror.

Sharon said: “What can I say? We are all devastated, I am, my mum is, everyone is. We loved him and we will miss him. We are all distraught."

Paul was just 18 when Sharon was born. He gave her away on her wedding day when she tied the knot with husband Philip Mousley.

He said at the time: “It was a really great day. Sharon looked fabulous and Philip is a smashing fella. They fit together like a pan and a lid. She looked like a Disney princess.”

Andre Portasio shared the last picture ever taken of he and his husband Paul together.

The entertainer was also a proud grandfather to the couple's son Abel who was born in 2006, and their daughter Halo, who arrived in 2009.

In his autobiography, Paul humorously recounted attending the maternity hospital to see his daughter for the first time, but went to the wrong cot.

The mother of the child said to him, bluntly: "You're looking at the wrong baby, mate. That one's mine, yours is over there."

Paul’s death was revealed by his husband, Andre Portasio, who said in a statement on Wednesday: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”

His death was met with an outpouring of grief from fans and celebrities, with many paying tribute to his career and life on social media.
