Pensioner arrested after police swoop on Lanarkshire street

A pensioner has been arrested after police and forensics teams were seen on a Lanarkshire street.

Locals on Mill Street in Rutherglen reported seeing a number of police in the area, including some who were armed.

Forensics officers were also spotted there.

Police later confirmed a 71-year-old was arrested and that enquiries are continuing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers executed a search warrant at a property on Mill Street in Rutherglen on Thursday, September, 29.

“A 71-year-old woman has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
