Perth social club raises £2500 for SCAA at sporting dinner event

A sportsman’s dinner held in Perth has helped keep Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) in the skies with a cheque for £2500 recently put the way of the heroic flying medics based at Perth Airport.

Derek Cuthbert, the band convener of Perth and District Ex-Service Club, organised a charity dinner which was held in the Perth Ex-Service Club on Saturday, September 17 in aid of SCAA.

The top table guests on the night were Dick Campbell, Arbroath FC manager, Paul Reid Arbroath FC commercial director - known in many quarters for his hilarious football impressions - and journalist Les Peters.

The event was attended by approximately 75 people, a mix of ex-Service veterans and local trades.

An auction and raffle were held on the night and altogether the sum of £2500 was raised.

Derek said: “I picked SCAA as it was a Scottish charity based here in Perth and they wholly rely on events like this raising money for them as they get no government subsidies.

“I would like to take this opportunity in thanking all the businesses who donated auction prizes and all who attended on the night.

“Also a thank you to Perth Ex-Service Club who did a marvellous job on hosting the event.”
