Phillip Schofield news live — Holly Willoughby brutally mocked by Have I Got News For You over This Morning statement

HOLLY WILLOUGHBY'S This Morning statement was mocked by Have I Got News For You guest host Harry Hill along with team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.

The show kicked off with a clip from This Morning showing Holly say "deep breath," cutting off to Harry who's following her instructions.

While trying the new Apple AI headset, Harry tells viewers how it allows users to live in a "mixed reality" like "Holly Willoughby does."

Later on, the team captains join in the digs at Holly as Paul asks Ian: "Did you feel let down, Ian?" with the panellist responding: "I was just wondering if that was a cocktail: shaken, let down. I think the audience doesn’t feel anything except, well, 'This is quite interesting, unlike the show normally.'"

Holly was then featured in the picture round in which Harry explained why she was the right answer: "They’ve all been upset by something they’ve seen on the telly apart from Holly Willoughby who made a special statement about it and how upset she was on the telly."

  • Alison Hammond apologises for blocking people for the wrong reason

This Morning host Alison Hammond hasn't been updated on the latest slang that modern day internet users use and didn't get the meaning of "GOAT."

When being joined by Nick Ferrari and Matthew Wright, Dermot O'Leary introduced them as "GOAT" guests and Alison was left confused.

She eventually found out that it means "Greatest Of All Time" and apologised live on air for not knowing what it means: "I've been blocking people. Sorry If I've blocked you."

  • This Morning fans shocked over new host’s real age

This Morning fans were staggered when it was revealed hunky new host Craig Doyle was a lot older than he looked.

The star, who’s hosted with Alison Hammond before, took Phillip Schofield‘s place alongside Holly Willoughby yesterday.

The star, who was a familiar face in the UK a decade ago before working in Ireland, appeared on This Morning with Holly for the first time.

Many viewers weren’t familiar with him and Googled who he was when the show was on air.

And several spoke about how astonished they were to learn that Craig is 52 years old.

One wrote: “Enjoying Craig Doyle on the telly but am in shock that he’s 52! Yikes – hope I look half as good when I’m that age!”

Ranj, 43, shared a selfie of him grinning into the mirror as his hairdresser got to work on giving him a style transformation.

  • Phillip Schofield could land a job with TalkTV

CEO of 10 Yetis Digital, Andy Barr, believes that TalkTV could be the "perfect place" for Phillip Schofield as long as no new allegations come out against him.

He told the Daily Star: "TalkTV could be the career rebuilding platform that Schofield needs right now. If the current media spotlight reveals no new allegations then this is entirely recoverable for him and TalkTV could be the perfect place for him to start again in a high profile media environment.

"I think the public will expect him to have a career break before announcing his comeback. Not least so that he can protect his mental health and get any and all the support that he needs from those around him."

  • Craig Doyle needed 'a couple of freak accidents' to get This Morning gig

One of Holly's co-hosts, Craig Doyle, never thought that he'd be able to get the This Morning gig.

It comes after in April, he told the Big Jim Podcast: "You’ve got This Morning with Holly, lovely Holly, and lovely Phil. So when they go away, Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond take over and when they go away, I’m in there.

"I need a couple of freak accidents to happen to make that gig happen. I would say in a live TV studio is where I'm at my calmest and in my most peaceful state. It’s really weird.”

  • Holly mocked by Harry Hill

The Have I Got News For You team couldn't resist but poke fun at Holly Willoughby's This Morning speech.

While discussing the new Apple AI headseat which gives users the opportunity to live in a "mixed reality", he said: "I guess like Holly Willoughby does."

There were further references throughout the episode, as the panellist Ian Hislop commented: "Her tone of voice suggested that Phil Schofield and everyone he knew had all been murdered by terrorists."

Meanwhile, Paul Merton asked: "Did you feel let down, Ian?" with the panellist responding: "I was just wondering if that was a cocktail: shaken, let down. I think the audience doesn’t feel anything except, well, 'This is quite interesting, unlike the show normally.'"

  • Holly in hysterics after X-rated joke

Holly was left in hysterics after a tough few weeks when she dropped an X-rated joke at her new This Morning co-host Craig Doyle.

At the top of the show, Craig said he was looking forward to being back in Ireland this weekend to see his four-legged companion.

“We all get giddy about seeing the dog,” said Craig.

Holly replied: “Well, your dog does particularly love you. Look at this greeting Craig’s dog gave him when he come home.”

The clip – which played Donny Osmond’s Puppy Love over the top – showed Craig’s pooch jumping into his arms.

Craig said: “If I could jump on him I would, it’s just easier the other way around.”

Holly added: “It’s just the sweetest thing. Look at the tail!

“I think if you had a tail, you’d be wagging.”

Craig cheekily replied: “My tail is wagging”, before the pair launched into hysterics.

  • How it feels to work with Phil and Holly at ITV

Carol McGiffin has explained how it is like working at ITV with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

The Loose Women star didn’t hold back in saying how “dysfunctional” things are behind the scenes.

In her column for Best magazine, she wrote: “They go on about the ‘ITV Daytime Family’ being cosy best mates, all caring and kind, but in my opinion it’s about as dysfunctional as they come.

“It’s cut-throat, competitive and ruthless, and can be quite unpleasant, and as soon as your face doesn’t fit anymore, or you disagree with their narrative, you’re out the door.”

  • Craig Doyle backed as Phil's replacement

Craig Doyle is being backed to be Phillip Schofield’s permanent replacement.

His odds have been shortening since yesterday after viewers praised his "chemistry" with Holly Willoughby.

Bookies have him at 4/1 while Dermot O'Leary still edges slightly ahead, according to BettingSites.co.uk.

Our insider told us: "Craig has a lot of other projects currently but would of course be interested in a permanent position.

"Who wouldn’t, it’s a dream role for any presenter.

"If the response from This Morning viewers is anything like the past couple of days, then fans of the show certainly won’t be disappointed to see him on the sofa more permanently."

  • Different ways Holly showed she’s ‘sad’ without Phillip

Body language expert Judi James told The Sun how Holly Willoughby looks “sad” without Phillip Schofield on This Morning, as she made her second appearance since returning from her family holiday in Portugal.

First, it was the frequent blinking as Judi explained: “Popping up for their show promo on Lorraine, it looked like Holly’s mouth smile was needing more effort, while her sparkle-free eye expression looked sad, with some frequent blinking.

“If Holly was your friend her body language here would prompt you to ask ‘Are you ok?’ but given the bizarre use of that question in her speech yesterday it’s a phrase that would only really reek of sarcasm today.”

Then Holly looked “prim and tense” as Judi commented on her posture: “Her buttoned-up floral dress looked like a statement of mild disapproval and, with her upper arms pressed against her torso in a self-hug, her hands were balled into loose fists on the table in front of her.”

  • Fans notice ‘hidden message’ in Holly’s statement

This Morning viewers noticed how Holly only mentioned Phillip’s name once as she addressed the events that went down surrounding the ITV show.

Fans feel that this was a “hidden message” from Holly to hint that their friendship of 17 years is now over for good.

One viewer said: “Couldn’t even say Phillip’s name. If you’ve been close friends with someone for so long, no matter how let down by them you feel, you don’t just brush them off like she did. Terrible statement from Holly.”

Another agreed, adding: “She needs to go. I’ve got more respect for Alison and Dermot tackling it head on and genuine tears from Alison.”

  • Holly shares message on social media about ‘signs from the universe’

Following her statement on This Morning, Holly Willoughby proceeded to share a cryptic message with her subscribers about “signs from the universe.”

One post from her wellness site Wylde Moon read: “Are coincidences a secret message from the universe? Do you ever find yourself thinking, that’s weird timing or I can’t believe that’s just happened?

“Well, all those little coincidences that pepper everyday life could be the universe trying to send you a message.”

This was linked to a story which tried to explain what coincidences are.

It detailed: “Everyone loves a ‘Sliding Doors’ moment so we asked Matt Johnson, PhD, a neuroscientist, speaker and author who has explored the psychology of serendipity to tell us more.’

“According to Matt Johnson, there are some scientific ideas like Complexity Theory and Chaos Theory that suggest coincidences come about purely because life has become complicated and messy.”

  • Holly Willoughby ‘DID know about Phillip Schofield’s affair – everyone did’, James Haskell claims

The former England rugby player, 37, claimed that Schofield’s involvement with a “much younger” This Morning worker was an open secret.

Holly has strongly denied knowing anything about Schofield’s affair – blasting her co-star for his “lies”.

Schofield also told The Sun that Holly did not know about the affair, which happened while he was still married – and says he is sorry for lying to her.

But Haskell, the son-in-law of former This Morning presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, made the bombshell claim during an appearance on the Jeremy Vine show.

He said: “I knew about this years ago, of course she knows. Everybody knows.”

  • Pictures of Phillip Schofield removed from ITV corridors

This Morning staff have removed pictures of Phillip from the ITV corridors to signify a new era — but not as a snub to him, it is claimed.

This comes as Phillip told The Sun Holly did not know about his affair.

He said: “I’ve lost my best friend. Holly did not know. And she was one of the first texts that I sent to say ‘I am so, so sorry, that I lied to you.’”

A source said: “Everyone feels sympathetic to Holly and there will definitely be a few nerves on set on Monday morning.

“Everyone is anxious for her return to the show to go well, but crew will do their best to make her welcome.

“Holly is clearly feeling anxious about things, but at the same time she’s determined to address it.”

It comes after she returned to This Morning on Monday after taking a break following Phillip's resignation.

And now, she appears to have taken aim at Phil, 61, with a cryptic post.

The image said: "Are coincidences secret messages from the universe?"

Alongside the graphic she wrote: "We all love a 'Sliding Doors' moment, but are meaningful coincidences really a sign of beautiful serendipity that hold greater meaning than seemingly 'random' chance? Tap the link in our bio for some answers."

Bookies have him at 4/1 while Dermot O'Leary still edges slightly ahead, according to BettingSites.co.uk.

Our insider told us: "Craig has a lot of other projects currently but would of course be interested in a permanent position.

"If the response from This Morning viewers is anything like the past couple of days, then fans of the show certainly won’t be disappointed to see him on the sofa more permanently."

  • Piers Morgan believes everybody at ITV knew about Phil’s scandal

As he weighed in on the drama surroinding This Morning, Piers Morgan said that everyone at the broadcaster knew about Phillip Schofield’s affair.

He said: “The one thing I know for sure, is a lot of people at ITV knew about these rumours, about this relationship. I mean everybody knew at ITV, right, let’s be crystal clear.

“That building was abuzz with this for about three years because three years ago at the National Television awards at the ITV box the young man concerned in this story confessed his undying love for Phillip Schofield. Everybody knew that.

This idea that the whole management is basically going [fingers in ears], ‘We didn’t know anything’. Come on. That I know is not true.”

  • What do you think of Josie as a host on This Morning?

  • How did Holly come up with her statement?

The Mail revealed that Holly first went to her family to get advice on how to tackle the issue regarding Phil’s scandal.

She then consulted with her publicist Laura Sinclar and her TV production guru Dan Baldwin also jumped in to help.

Finally, it was left for the ITV bosses and Holly herself to decided how many times Phillip should be mentioned.

A source said: “Holly knew she needed to put the viewers at the forefront of all of this, the show is in dire straits and she sees it as her role to save it.

“So she personally wanted to get it absolutely right which meant there were many drafts to be gone through. Eventually they settled on giving Phil a fleeting mention.

“As well as getting the messaging right for the audience watching at home, how the statement was reported by all forms of the media was important too. The last thing they wanted was a Phil shunned type headline.”
