Retired woman puts up warning sign outside home as dozens of men think it's a brothel

A retired woman has resorted to putting up warning signs outside her home after becoming fed up with men mistakenly thinking it was a brothel.

Elaine White, 66, says that scores of men have been knocking at the door of her Plano, Texas home for over a year, asking for women named Nikki, Kelly and Rhonda.

She believes they may have fallen victim to an online scam, which lists her address as a meeting place for sexual activity.

Elaine estimates that around 25 men have so far shown up in the mistaken belief they were visiting a brothel – with one of those making a 450-mile trip from Laredo.

“I'm frustrated. I'm irritated and I'm beyond done,” she told NBC 5 News.

“How can a grown man go to a house in a neighbourhood thinking they're gonna get sex?

“As many hookers and prostitutes there are - go get one. Leave me alone. I'm not here for that.”

Elaine added that the men were a wide range of ages, with some even showing up with beer.

Elaine installed a Ring video doorbell camera to record them and has submitted footage to the police, as well as putting up signs warning those who approach that she is armed.

In one of the video clips, a man tells her that he is looking for a woman named 'Rhonda', to which she asks: "For drugs or for sex?"

One of her signs reads: "Kelly does NOT live here" (

He responds: "Umm, second one."

She then says: "Well, you know what? This is a bait house and you have 10 seconds to get away from it or the cops are gonna getcha.

"You better hurry."

Elaine said she has contacted the police several times and, although officers arrived promptly, no arrests have been made.
