Rishi Sunak being grilled by Piers Morgan on 100th day as Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak is sitting down with Piers Morgan to mark 100 days as Prime Minister.

During that time he has faced pressure over new Tory sleaze claims, a deepening cost of living crisis, crisis in the NHS and widespread strike action bringing the country to a halt

In a preview snippet, Mr Sunak spoke about the Channel boat crossings and the Tories’ plan to send illegal migrants to Rwanda.

He insisted new laws will mean people arriving in the UK without valid documents will be deported a within a ‘matter of days or weeks’ rather than ‘months or years’.

In the ‘vast majority of cases’, he added, they would be sent to ‘an alternative safe country, be that where you have come from, if it’s safe, like Albania, or, indeed, Rwanda’.

Pressed if the policy will ever happen, Mr Sunak responded: ‘Yes.’
