Six men and 15-year-old boy arrested after alleged incidents of 'serious violence' in Lanarkshire

Police have a arrested six men and a 15-year-old male in connection with "serious violence" incidents in Lanarkshire.

Cops were called to the first disturbance on Friday, November 4, at around 3.30pm in Airdrie 's Caldercruix Road.

The alleged spate of violence also included incidents in Ayrshire where officers attended a disturbance just off the A76, Bowhouse roundabout in Kilmarnock.

Today, police swooped down on a number of addresses in Wishaw, Shotts, Larkhall and Strathaven where arrests were made.

The first incident happened on Friday, November 4, when officers were called to a report of a disturbance in Caldercruix Road, Airdrie, around 3.30pm.

The second incident happened around 3.50pm on Sunday, November 6, when officers attended following a report of a disturbance just off the A76, Bowhouse roundabout, Kilmarnock.

On Monday, November 21, a 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the Ayrshire incident and was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court the following day.

On the same date another 23-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with both incidents and was due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday, November 22, and at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November 23.

On Sunday, November 27, a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with both incidents.

He was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court yesterday (November 28), in connection with the Ayrshire incident and at Airdrie Sheriff Court today (November 29), in connection with the Lanarkshire incident.

Also on Sunday, November 27, a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were arrested and charged in connection with the Ayrshire incident and both were due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, November 28.

Following further enquiries, officers attended at a number of addresses in Wishaw, Shotts, Larkhall and Strathaven today (November 29), when a 28-year-old man and a male youth aged 15 were arrested in connection with the Ayrshire incident.

The police investigation is ongoing as the force continues to trace all those responsible.

Chief Inspector Graeme McLaughlin told Lanarkshire Live : “A number of arrests have been made in connection with these serious incidents in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire following a robust police investigation into violence.

“I would like to reassure the public that incidents of violence are taken extremely seriously and detailed investigations will always be carried out to trace those responsible.

"This kind of behaviour is not acceptable in our communities.”
