Sun-kissed Brits enjoying glorious Bank holiday share lolly with Coco the donkey on Blackpool beach

MY LICK-LE DONKEY

A YOUNG beach-goer keeps Coco the donkey sweet by sharing her rock lolly on Blackpool beach.

Sienna Mackie, six, was among bank holiday sun-seekers who flocked to the seaside yesterday.

Sienna, from Glasgow, jokingly offered the multicoloured treat to the animal, who was keeping cool in a pink floral headband near the resort’s famous tower.

Beaches were packed up and down the country and dry weather will continue throughout the week.

Temperatures peaked at 21C in Glasgow, Scotland, yesterday afternoon, according to the Met Office.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country saw peaks in the high-teens, with 19C across most western parts including Portsmouth.

Brits were spotted topping up their tans and picnicking, while a game of footie was snapped on the sand.

Some fitness fans were up in earnest as they were pictured enjoying a jog down the Mall this morning with Buckingham Palace bathed in sunshine in the background.

Coastal hotspots were packed as people made the most of the bank holiday and families enjoyed a fine start to the half-term break.

It comes after forecasters predicted a "fine, dry" weekend due to a "jet stream" and an area of high pressure keeping conditions settled.

Paul Gunderson, chief forecaster at the Met, said: "The jet stream sitting to the north of the UK is holding unsettled weather systems at bay and allowing high pressure to dominate bringing fine weather to the vast majority of the UK."
