Supermarket meal kits deals to cut food costs – from Nando’s to fajitas

FOOD boxes delivered to your door make meals easy.

With all the ingredients already measured, cooking the recipes from the likes of Gousto and Hello Fresh is fun.

But you can pay more than £30 for a box with two meals for a family of four.

Get all the ease of a food box without the hefty price tag by choosing a super- market meal kit instead . . .

DINE-IN DEALS: Dig into a dish from your favourite restaurant without a big bill at the end with meal kits for dishes from Wagamama, Itsu and Nando’s, and use them to shake up everyday dinners.

Nando’s Smokey Peri Peri Wrap Kit, serving two, is down from £3.20 to £2.50 at Sainsbury’s. Buy two packs, plus 640g chicken breast fillets, £4.08, and salad, to get a meal for four for around £9.

BUNDLES OF FUN: Buying a bundle of ingredients can save money and time.

Morrisons Chicken Fajita bundle, including mini chicken fillets, stir-fry fajita vegetable mix and Morrisons smoky BBQ fajita kit, serves four for £7.50, saving 83p on buying the ingredients individually.

The store’s stir-fry bundle, with noodles, vegetables and sauce for £3, is great value. Add Morrisons beef sizzle steak, 320g, £4.25.

FIND THE SAUCE: A simple sauce kit can transform basic ingredients and take the faff out of family meals.

For easy-cook British classics try Schwartz’s recipe mixes for sausage casserole, shepherd’s pie and Somerset pork casserole, 85p each at Asda or buy four for £2.

GO GLOBAL: Supermarket meal kits can take you a world away from British cuisine.

Tesco has fresh-tasting Spice Tailor curry kits, including Rustic Rogan Josh and Keralan Coconut Curry, down from £3.15 to £2.50 for Clubcard holders.

Vegetarians can cook up a taste of China with Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian Pulled Pork Bao Buns — was £5, now £4, at Sainsbury’s.
