This Morning fans gobsmacked as they discover Alison Hammond’s secret soap role

THIS Morning star Alison Hammond left fans stunned as she revealed her secret soap role.

The ITV anchor, 48, rocketed into the public eye after appearing on the third series of Big Brother in 2002.

In the same year, the former holiday rep and entertainer in Tunisia began hosting This Morning along with Dermot O'Leary, 50.

Alison and Dermot - who usually present on Friday's - are at the This Morning helm after being confirmed by ITV as emergency stand-in hosts.

The broadcaster released a statement explaining that members of the This Morning family would be stepping into the shoes of Phil Schofield, 61, after he made the shock announcement he was quitting last week.

Today, Dermot revealed his co-presenter's secret soap past on BBC show Doctors.

He introduced the hilarious segment and told viewers: "You might remember the other day Alison said she had not one but two parts in Doctors.

She interjected: "I was telling the truth!" to which he replied: "I didn't doubt it but we had to investigate more."

She then clarified: "A nice part and a feisty part."

Dermot continued: "Well we have spoken to the team at Doctors, thanks so much for helping us here guys, after days of searching through their archives they have gone and found ... oh I wish I had some popcorn!

"Sit back kids!

"This is Alison's starring roles in Doctors - take a look."

The first clip showed Alison taking on the role of a friendly school teacher who was welcoming a guest.

A second saw her lighting up a cigarette following an argument with her sister.

Her character was heard bluntly referring to her sibling as she said: "She'll manage - she always does!"

Back in the This Morning studio Alison let out a huge laugh at her character's bold attitude.

She jokingly said: "Who was that? Who was that?"

Alison added: "It was the fact I had the cigarette I think it was really over the top."

Fans were just as amused, with one writing: "Alison was in Doctors?!"

Another confessed: "Alison Hammond in Doctors has made my day."

Yesterday, the duo had fans giggling following an "awkward" moment with Lorraine host Ranvir Singh.

To add to her telly credentials, Alison has now also landed herself a job as co-host on The Great British Bake Off.

She has made a significant amount from her appearances on numerous reality shows and This Morning as well as lending her face to brands such as Crown Bingo and DFS Furnishings.

As of 2023, the TV star is estimated to be worth anywhere in between £1 to £4million.
