The Conservative Party conference has gone into ‘lockdown’ and MPs have been told they can’t leave or enter the building.
Police have said due to a potential ‘security alert’ the Birmingham International Convention Centre (ICC) where the event is being held is currently under lockdown.

Thousands of MPS and members of the party are gathered for the annual event in Birmingham.
The security announcement came just minutes before Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng was due to make a highly anticipated speech to members.

Journalists and MPs who had been outside of the ICC just before the speech werte told by security to remain in the secure zone surrounding the centre ‘for their safety’, according to eyewitnesses.
Over 11,000 Tory delegates are expected to visit the conference over the four days.
The Conservative Party Conference 2022 is taking place from Sunday 2 October and will run until Wednesday 5 October.
