Tyson Fury advises Derek Chisora to retire after one-sided world title fight

Tyson Fury has suggested that trilogy rival Derek Chisora should retire from the sport after his dominant win.

The 'Gypsy King' made a U-turn on his own retirement plans to return to the ring against Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he won in routine fashion winning nine rounds before closing the show in the tenth. 'WAR' was never really in the fight, but once again showed bravery and heart having taken some huge shots during the fight.

Fury had faced heavy criticism going into the fight for his selection of opponent, given his previous wins over Chisora in 2011 and 2014. Also his British rival had faced regular calls to retire from the sport given he is now 38-years-old and now has thirteen defeats on his record.

And the champion believes his rival will go down as a folk hero in the sport if he does make the decision to hang up his gloves. "I know where Derek is coming from right now, I can't speak for any other man, I can't make decisions for anybody," Fury said at the post-fight press conference. " Derek will make his own decisions. Because he's a legend of this game. In British boxing he's like a folk hero... For me, I'd love to see him retire.

"Who wouldn't tune in for Derek's fights? People love him and he is always entertaining and always gives his all. He is a good fighting man for sure and he has been around for so long." Chisora recorded a career-best victory over Kubrat Pulev in July, but faced the loudest calls to call it a day after his three consecutive defeats included the rematch against Joseph Parker.

However he has defiantly continued beyond many's expectations and even made calls to fight the likes of Deontay Wilder who is considered the most powerful puncher in the division. Chisora has shared the ring with the likes of Vitali Klitschko, Fury three times and Dillian Whyte twice.

Fury himself jostled with the prospect of retirement, but it is a completely different story for the undefeated champion who could face Usyk and Joe Joyce in 2023. And despite the fight being put on hold for Usyk to take a break, the Briton is confident an undisputed fight takes place next year.

"We're going to get those big fights," Fury said. "Let's give the fans one champion, one name, one face. Usyk's up for the challenge. He came over tonight so fair play to him. He's not an easy boxer to figure out. He's a slick, southpaw mover, with very good skills, Olympic gold medallist and he comes in good form.

The big fights sometimes don't happen for whatever reason. But I've got a good feeling this one's going to happen. But if it doesn't for X, Y or Z reasons, then we'll have Joe Joyce at Wembley next year."
