RESIDENTS living next to an Amazon warehouse have slammed it for keeping the lights on all night.
Jill Payne moved to the area for a quiet retirement - but has said it's like living on the Benidorm strip.
Relocating to Poole Harbour, Dorset, seven years ago, Jill was left horrified when the new warehouse opened.
What used to be a peaceful experience, she said she can no longer enjoy sitting on her balcony.
She said: "It's like living in Benidorm having that thing lit up at night.
"I used to love looking out of my window at the nature reserve with the ships in the background.
"Now I look out and the view has been completely ruined. I'm outraged that it was allowed."
The pensioner also said Amazon are "rubbing it in" having all the lights on while people are struggling to pay their bills.
Jill added: "It's rubbing it in, having 150 million bloody lights on while the rest of us are struggling to pay their energy bills.
"I would like to know exactly where the council is using the £350,000 that they have been given by Amazon to make up for the ecological damage."
Joan Wright, 88, said her direct view on the harbour has been ruined since the warehouse went up.
Comparing it to a "cruise liner" Joan hopes the LED lights will be dimmed.
She said: "We just call it the cruise liner, it absolutely spoils my view.
"I imagine the people on the other side of the harbour will need black out curtains to try to keep the light out.
"I think they need to put some sort of dimming setting on them so that it is less blinding.
"It's like the Blackpool illuminations when I get up in the night, you just can't ignore it."
LIGHT FRIGHT
John Diffey said locals never thought the warehouse would be as big as what it is.
He said: "We never expected it to be so big, or so bright on an evening.
"I hope it is bringing a lot of jobs to the area but I don't know why the lights need to be on all night.
"Their energy bills are going to be incredible."
Alison Green moved to the area solely to enjoy the harbour and the views.
She said: "I got excited the other night because I thought they had turned the lights off.
"I thought that Amazon had listened to our complaints but then when I looked out of my windows I realised that it was just foggy.
"It's just not fair, the view I moved here for is gone."
