Where The Holiday cast are now – tragic death, wed to supermodel, ‘punk parent’ and star’s bizarre spat with Vernon Kay

IT was the festive flick that packed a lot of heart - and now it's coming back for a sequel.

Fans of The Holiday will be delighted by the news of a follow up flick, which will start filming next year with all the original cast.

The 2006 flick, which starred Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black, failed to impress critics but went on to rake in more than £200million at the Box Office.

The rom-com followed Amanda, played by Diaz, and Iris, played by Winslet, after they swapped houses for Christmas and fell in love.

It's been 16 long years since the film reached cinemas and a lot has happened since.

From supermodel wives, punk parents and a spat with Vernon Kay, we catch up with the actors now.

Miffy Englefield

Miffy, 23, who played Jude Law’s daughter Sophie, is now a mum herself and is working as a barista.

The former actress was also in a band and described herself as a “pint-sized punk”.

In 2020, she had her first child daughter Frankie and told The Sun about her complicated birth.

She said: "She arrived at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester three days early after 21 hours of labour.

"Then my temperature soared, doctors realised I had an infection and I was rushed for a c-section.

"I was pumped full of antibiotics and kept in hospital for two days."

But it appears the new mum has fond memories of filming The Holiday and revealed on TikTok how her dad made her a scrapbook of scripts and pictures.

Last year, Miffy told The New York Times: “They made all this time for these two little kids running around.

"Jude had so much time for us. He was always giving me tips about acting."

But the musician says her childhood fame can sometimes lead to creepy behaviour.

Disgusted Miffy wrote on TikTok: “When gross old men say things like 'I'm so glad you're still as cute as you were on The Holiday' to me.”

Cameron Diaz

Starring as Amanda in The Holiday was one of Cameron’s last hit roles before she retired from acting.

The actress, 50, went on to star in Shrek spin offs, Bad Teacher and was Miss Hannigan in the 2014 remake of Annie.

Cameron - who is married to Benji Madden from Good Charlotte - had her first child Raddix, one, at the age of 47 in 2019.

The actress opened up about her retirement on Kevin Hart’s talk show last year.

She said: “It’s fun to do, I love it, I love acting, I could go forever. I sometimes feel like I have unlimited energy and inertia.

“I just looked around and there were so many parts of my life that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing, and I couldn’t really manage, because everything was so massive.”

Jack Black

The role of soundtrack composer Miles was written for Jack Black after director Nancy Meyers saw him in School of Rock.

Since his 2006 role, Black, 53, has nabbed leading roles in Kung Fu Panda, Tropic Thunder and the Jumanji remakes.

But last year, presenter Vernon Kay revealed a secret feud between him and the actor from his T4 days.

Vernon said: "I don’t know whether he’d had a hangover or whether it was because I was either the first or last interview of the day, but he was horrible.

"He was an absolute d**k, an a******e."

"When you’re so rude, arrogant and pig-faced to a young TV presenter, who’s so nervous and trying to hone his skills, and you’re so arrogant to dismiss that, it’s just not on."

He added: "I hope he reads it, and let this be a lesson to Jack Black."

Jude Law

Jude played widower Graham, Iris’s brother who charms Cameron Diaz’s character.

Law, 49, has since starred as Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts films, Sherlock Holmes and Sky Atlantic series The Young Pope.

He surprised fans by getting married to respected business psychologist Dr Phillipa Coen in 2019.

In 2020, the couple had their first child together.

Jude shares three children with ex-wife Sadie Frost and has two daughters from ex-girlfriends model Samantha Burke and singer Catherine Harding.

Eli Wallach

Eli played Cameron Diaz’s reclusive neighbour Arthur who Kate Winslet bonds with.

The actor passed away from natural causes in 2014 - after reaching the age of 98.

Eli was known for his roles in Spaghetti Westerns, starring alongside Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

He was also known for playing Calvera in The Magnificent Seven.

His last roles were in 2010 when he played opposite Pierce Brosnan in Roman Polanski film Ghost Writer.

That year, he was awarded a special Oscar at the Academy Awards, his first in his long career.

In the same year, he featured in Oliver Stone’s follow-up to Wall Street.

Edward Burns

Ed went from playing supporting actors in rom-coms to bagging a supermodel wife.

The actor, now 54 - who played Cameron Diaz’s frustrated boyfriend - married Christy Turlington in 2003

They got hitched while Christy was pregnant in San Francisco in a celeb-studded party including Bono, Sting and Vin Diesel.

Bizarrely, Christy’s sister Kelly is married to Ed’s screenwriter brother Brian.

Before The Holiday, Ed was known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan and TV series Will and Grace.

Notably, he has also starred in comedy series Bridge and Tunnel on Amazon Prime Video.

Shannyn Sossamon

Noughties movie star Shannyn was famed for her roles in 40 Days and 40 Nights and a Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger.

In The Holiday, she plays Miles’s wannabe actress girlfriend Maggie - who he leaves for Kate Winslet’s character Iris.

Her acting career seemed to peter out - but she drummed for the band Warpaint until 2008.

Then she made a small comeback in 2016 with a spot in TV series Sleepy Hollow.

Shannyn, now 44, has stepped back from the limelight after becoming a mum.

She told Nylon: "I like to look at the birth of my first son as a blessing of course, and he’s just the joy of my life and my soulmate.

“I can't imagine life without him, so it’s weird to think the other way... He completely grounded me and made me look at myself, and my life just became completely different.

“It was just a gift, and perfect timing, too."

John Krasinski

Jack Ryan star John, 43, has humble beginnings in The Holiday - playing Amanda’s employee Ben.

Although only a minor role, John has gone on to become a leading man in Hollywood.

When cast in The Holiday, he had appeared in one season of the American version of The Office as Jim.

Since then, he’s appeared in The Quiet Place films with his British wife Emily Blunt and the Jack Ryan franchise.
