iciHaiti - Migration : 129 Haitian migrants intercepted off the Turks and Caicos Islands
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police (RTCIPF) of the Turks and Caicos Islands, alerted by the US Coast Guard, reported having intercepted an overloaded boat on May 25 with 129 Haitian migrants on board (107 men, 22 women and 1 minor) heading for Providenciales.
This interception comes on Saturday May 20, 2023 when the authorities intercepted another boat in the waters of the archipelago with 30 Haitians on board.
The Haitians were taken to the port on the island of Providenciales and handed over to immigration officials for processing.
Since the beginning of the year, the authorities of the archipelago have intercepted 17 boats carrying a total of 1,921 illegal migrants of Haitian origin.
