In a post on his Twitter account on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated her new Mexican counterpart Alicia Barcena on taking office.
He expressed confidence that the "friendly and age-old relations" between Iran and Mexico will continue to grow in all fields of mutual interest during the new Mexican foreign minister's tenure.
The president of Mexico on Tuesday appointed former United Nations official Alicia Barcena as the country's foreign affairs minister.
Barcena, who was executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) between 2008 and 2022, used to serve as Mexico's ambassador to Chile before her appointment as the foreign minister.
