About Twenty (20) Liberians of the newly established Loven Bakery Business on the 14th Street in Sinkor have been given employment status following a Ministry of Labour intervention.
The Ministry said its latest intervention followed a tip-off of bad labour practices being discovered at the newly established business institution in Sinkor for which majority workers weren’t given employment status since its operations.
Addressing journalists following the intervention, the Special Assistant to the Minister of Labour and Head of the inspectorate team, Mr. Josephus Flumo indicated that upon getting the tip-off, the Ministry dispatched a team of Labour Inspectors and it was established that the Loven Bakery was found to be in total violation of the Labour Laws of Liberia.

Mr. Flumo also informed the management that this government is a responsible government and as such would like to make sure that employers don’t take advantage over the workers of Liberia.
Mr. Flumo said the Loven Bakery through the intervention of the Ministry of Labour have agreed to immediately employ all of the twenty (20) Liberians that have been working with the institution without written contracts.
He said that it unfair to have people who cross the probation period working without a clear employment status.
He added that because of the compliant from Loven Bakery Sinkor branch employees, the Management has been asked to submit the full listen of workers with other branches of the institution including the Buzzi Quarter Branch.
Speaking following the signing of the Employment Contract, Mr. P. Abraham Zubah one of the workers at the Bakery expressed thanks and appreciation God for bringing the Ministry of Labour to their aid.
Mr. Sumo also thank the Management noting that he feels happy that he has finally being awarded an employment contract for the first six months.
At signing of the contract by the workers, the special Assistant to the Minister of Labour Josephus Flumo further asserted that the move is the reaffirmation of the Ministry’s mandate to protecting the welfare of Liberians in the employment sector and or the labour markets.
He stressed that the Ministry will do routine inspection to ensure that Loven Bakery complies with what is stipulated in the contract agreement and related labour laws.
This is not the first time Ministry of Labour has made such an intervention in the interest of Liberians’ workers during this ongoing mass inspection exercise across the Country.
Other similar interventions have been made in several other business and employment institutions; including the Chinese Mall in Paynesville fifty-seven (57) Liberian Workers employment status were regularized through signing of employment contracts. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour is encouraging all workers in the Country to report all forms of labour violation being meted against them or other employee(s) by the employers and other bad labour practices.
