LIBERIA: Gov’t Needs US$1Bn To Improve Education Sector – VP Howard Taylor

(LINA) – Liberia’s Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor, has disclosed that Liberia will need US 0ne billion to overhaul the entire educational system of the country.

She added that if the education sector should improve the Government will need the amount to implement basic programs to ensure the effectiveness of the sector.

Making the disclosure Monday at the start of the Joint Education Sector Review Conference held in Ganta, Nimba County, Vice President Taylor narrated that the Government will lobby through international partners as the best and easiest way of generating such an amount.

The vice president further said that the amount can be targeted within five years to implement said plan by the Government of Liberia.

VP Taylor further stated that if the country can target the first three years and generate half of the amount, such action will indicate that the plan can be accomplished within the five-year period.

The Vice President boasted of her government’s commitment to improving the education sector amid the many challenges.

 Meanwhile, the VP appreciated the international partners for their many contributions to the improvement of the nation’s education sector.
