Following series of media reports of the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah’s invite by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where he spent couple of days, with many Liberians expressing concerns of their leader to be the first sitting President to be invited by that agency, the Liberian leader is yet to inform his compatriots as to the nature of such.
Upon arrival at the Roberts International Airport (RIA), the Liberian leader, President Weah did not even mention anything about his invitation by the CIA its headquarters in Langley, Virginia, the United States amid public concerns, that the Liberian leader was reportedly questioned by the CIA while at its headquarters.
The Liberian leader speaking upon his arrival at the RIA to reporters who were anxious to hear about this much publicized news of his invite by the CIA did not make any reference of his CIA invitation, a situation that pondered many Liberians to question why this issue has not been talked about by the President.
However, reporters who quizzed the President did not also speak on the issue, but rather gave him the opportunity swilled away, by talking about the MoU signed between the UAE-based Blue Carbon and the Government of Liberia during his visit through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.
Some Liberians who have been following the social media about the CIA invite, speaking to the GNN expressed frustration as why the president did not speak on his invite to the CIA, “We were disappointed that the Liberian leader would have either confirm nor denied all of the reports that overwhelmed social media and other news outlets about his CIA invite”, Albert Tweah, a resident of central Monrovia speaking to the GNN voiced out. Like Albert, many others who spoke to the GNN expressed similar concerns.
