Six remanded in custody over theft

Six people are remanded in custody by the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing furniture at an OK furniture warehouse.

The magistrate on Friday said there is a need for further investigation.

The theft took place at Tsumeb in the Oshikoto region on Monday.

The police in the region reported that a case of housebreaking with the intent to steal was opened.

“The suspects broke into the OK furniture Tsumeb warehouse and stole furniture on Monday and Tuesday at around 23h00 and 09h00.

“The police were tipped off that some stolen items were being sold at an open market at the town.

“We conducted an operation and were able to recover some items, which included fridges, stoves, coffee tables, and many other items worth N$29 518, while the total value of the stolen items is N$68 919,” Oshikoto region police commissioner Theopoline Kalompo-Nashikaku says
