Cardinals announcer Dan McLaughlin in third DWI arrest: ‘Very disappointed’

St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster Dan McLaughlin was arrested on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated in suburban Creve Coeur, Missouri, on Sunday, according to a police report. It marks his third DWI arrest.

On Monday, McLaughlin, 48, was charged with “Persistent Offender of Driving While Intoxicated,” which could result in up to four years in prison. He was previously convicted of drunk driving in 2010 and 2011.

As of Monday night, McLaughlin was being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $25,000 cash-only bond. There were no injuries or property damage reported.

Creve Coeur police arrested McLaughlin Sunday evening after receiving two separate reports regarding a white sedan failing to maintain a single lane.

McLaughlin’s next court date is set for February, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

McLaughlin, who is a resident of nearby Town and Country, has been the Cardinals’ play-by-play broadcaster since 2000. He recently finished his 25th season with Fox Sports Midwest and now Bally Sports Midwest.

Bally Sports and the Cardinals released a joint statement, saying: “We have been made aware that Dan McLaughlin was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Sunday night. We are very disappointed to hear this and are working to gather additional information before offering further comment.”
