New video shows mystery person running near scene of NJ Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s murder

Chilling, new surveillance video has emerged of a person appearing to run from the scene where New Jersey Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour was gunned down in her SUV last week.

The short clip obtained by News 12 New Jersey was recorded about 7 p.m. Feb. 1 – around the time Dwumfour was killed – and shows a person wearing dark clothing darting across the frame.

It reportedly matches witness accounts that the shooter fled to the Garden State Parkway near the Camelot at La Mer apartment complex in Sayreville, where the victim was found slumped behind the wheel of her white Nissan.

The suspect also could have run down an embankment onto nearby Ernston Road, where authorities have installed digital signs asking for help from the public, according to News 12.

The quality of the footage is poor and it is difficult to make out details of the person seen running.

No suspects have been named in the case.

On Tuesday, Eunice’s dad, Prince Dwumfour, expressed his frustration about the lack of information about the investigation.

“So far, we haven’t heard anything yet,” he told The Post when asked if police had provided an update about the case.

Sayreville police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office have not released any information to the public about where the investigation stands.

A spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office told The Post only that there are “currently still no updates to report” because “the matter is still under investigation.”

Authorities have not publicly speculated on the motive for killing Dwumfour, a 30-year-old Republican who was elected in November 2021 after upsetting the incumbent Democrat.

Police have asked residents for surveillance camera video captured at the Camelot at La Mer complex between the hours of 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 1.

Investigators have told The Post that a video camera caught Dwumfour speaking to the shooter shortly before her death.
