Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Netflix docuseries trolled by fans: ‘Hypocritical’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got the royal troll treatment.

Netflix’s trailer for the highly-anticipated docuseries starring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was released on Monday, but was immediately slammed by several online users as “hypocritical.”

The one-minute trailer shows the former royals discussing their experience with the royal family, which they claimed was full of “pain and suffering.”

“I was terrified. I didn’t want history to repeat itself,” Harry, 38, said of his wife Meghan, 41. “The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy.”

While the video gained 1.4 million views on YouTube and nearly 16,000 likes by Tuesday, commenters started a trend to troll the former royals by starting out a comment with “I love the part where,” before roasting the couple.

“I love the part where Harry and Meghan write a letter making it clear that the monarchy is a horribly oppressive system,” one user mused. “Right before signing their letter « The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ».”

“I love the part where Harry advises people to quit their jobs if they feel stressed and to rely on their multimillion-dollar trust fund instead. Very relatable,” trolled another.

As of Tuesday, the number of dislikes on the video has been hidden, however, one user did point out that at the time of posting, the video had 121,000 dislikes.

“I love the part where Harry is so concerned about the press and his families’ safety that he hires paparazzi to document their escape to this incredible private life of interviews, podcasts, and Netflix series,” one critic wrote. “So brave and hypocritical that it brings a tear to my left eye!”

“I love the section where the British public showed their utter contempt for the couple by cheering madly, waving flags and contributing to the wedding,” quipped another. “Brings a tear to the eye, but only the left and only the one.”

One viewer commented on Harry’s quote in which he declares “there’s a hierarchy of the family.”

“I love the part when after spending 39 years in the royal family, Harry suddenly realizes that there is a hierarchy,” they wrote.

Some users slammed the streaming site for even entertaining the idea of the docuseries.

“I love how Netflix manages to roll this story into a new genre: comedic reality-fiction,” another person joked.

“I especially love the part where Netflix abetted the Sussex spite and jealousy by timing the release of the first trailer to spoil the Wales U.S. trip. Such loyalty! So inspiring,” chimed in a third person, referencing Prince William and Kate Middleton who this week visited Boston where they were mocked during a basketball game with chants of “USA.”
