Helena Bonham Carter received two Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Princess Margaret on Netflix‘s The Crown during Seasons 3 and 4 of the show, but now that her time in the drama is up, she thinks the show should wrap altogether.

While starring on The Crown, Bonham Carter helped portray the monarchy of the 1960s and ’70s, an era far enough removed from present day to feel like a “historic drama,” the actress said in an interview with The Guardian. Now that the show is moving forward in history and depicting more recent events, she says it’s time to call “cut.”

“I don’t think they should carry on, actually. I’m in it and I loved my episodes, but it’s very different now,” Bonham Carter said of the Peter Morgan drama.

She continued, “When The Crown started it was a historic drama, and now it’s crashed into the present.”

Netflix has already announced that The Crown will be ending with the upcoming sixth season, which will cover the 1990s, around the time of Princess Diana’s death in 1997 and the period that followed.

Many critics of the show have similarly expressed concern with how The Crown is depicting the royal family, with actors like Judi Dench calling the depictions of the monarchy on the show “cruelly unjust,” and crew members reportedly pushing back against filming scenes of Diana’s death, with one source telling The Sun last year, “With some of those moments still so fresh and upsetting, it feels as though a line is being crossed.”

Let’s be honest though, even if we’re not getting Seasons 7 and 8 of The Crown, the Harry & Meghan documentary is a worthy substitute, and offers far more intriguing depictions of modern royal drama than a fictional series ever could.

The Crown Seasons 1 through 5 are now streaming on Netflix.
