‘Wednesday’ Star Jenna Ortega Is “Absolutely Devastated” Over Lisa Loring’s Death

Jenna Ortega, who stars as the titular character in Netflix’s Wednesday, has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to the original Wednesday Addams actor Lisa Loring

Loring passed away on Jan. 28 at age 64 due to complications from a stroke. The actor starred as Wednesday in the 1966 sitcom The Addams Family. Nearly a decade later, she reprised her role in the television movie Halloween with the New Addams Family.

According to Yahoo!, Ortega shared a tribute to the late actor on her Instagram story yesterday (Jan. 31).

The Netflix star posted two black-and-white photos of Loring with the caption, “Absolutely devastated. Thank you for everything.”

Ortega has received awards recognition for her portrayal of the goth teen, garnering both Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild nominations.

Butch Patrick, known for portraying Eddie Munster in The Munsters, also paid tribute to Loring. He told Fox News Digital, “My initial reaction was one of sadness,” and added that the actor had been in “failing health” prior to her death. He said, “I’m really happy that she’s out of pain. I’m a big believer in spirituality and the afterlife, so I’m happy she’s in a better place. But I miss her.”

Patrick went on to reflect on her interactions with Loring, saying that they did “some shows together,” because their characters were seemingly cut from the same cloth. “… any promoter in their right mind would love to have Wednesday Addams and Eddie Munster in the same room to promote an appearance,” he explained.

“The more we worked together, the closer we got and the deeper the friendship bond became,” Patrick said before telling a story where he met up with Loring for a club promotion event which involved their respective characters getting married. “It was such a good time,” he added.

Loring is survived by her two daughters, Marianne and Vanessa. After her passing, Marianne told Variety, “She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands.”
