According to Provincial disaster management departments, the recent flash floods killed at least five people and injured two more in the country’s five provinces, including in Paktika, Logar, Parwan, Nangarhar and Wardak provinces.
The floods also damaged the people financially, destroying several residential houses and damaging agricultural lands.
Meanwhile, according to the report, five people stuck in a flood in the Hesarak district of Nangarhar province were rescued by the air forces of the Ministry of Defense via a helicopter evacuation.
Meanwhile, the injured people have taken to the local hospital for medical treatment, and the officials urged the provincial government to maintain precautionary measures to deal with the situation.
Earlier this month, at least six people died, and eight others were injured in eight provinces of the country over heavy rains and flooding.
According to the Natural disaster management authority, the flash floods hit almost eight provinces, including Badakhshan, Paktia, Kunar, Bamyan, Ghor, Takhar, Nuristan and Parwan.
A similar incident occurred in the eastern province of Nangarhar, killing four people and injuring more than 25 others.
Numerous accounts state that in April 2023, earthquakes and flash floods killed at least 29 people in the nation’s 31 provinces.
According to officials, the natural disasters caused financial losses, including the deaths of 848 animals, 155 homes, 1,242 partially damaged homes, and 7,106 acres of agricultural land.
Afghanistan is among the countries most vulnerable to natural disasters, such as landslides, earthquakes, avalanches, and intense floods.
